Benjamin Hine Hayes was born 18 February 1807 in Cairo, Greene, NY. Married Phoebe Ann Marquit 25 November 1843. Died 21 November 1873.
Together Benjamin and Phoebe bore eight children who, with one exception, lived into their adult years. Their seventh child, Charles Edward Hayes, born 5 September 1858, died one month later on 8 October 1858 in Wisconsin.
